About GFOA Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting

The Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners' 2015 Annual Report was submitted to the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) to be considered for the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR). This is the District's eighth consecutive year achieving this award. In order to receive the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting, a government unit must publish a Popular Annual Financial Report, the contents of which conform to program standards of creativity, presentation, understandability, and reader appeal.

About GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management to clearly communicate its financial story. This award marks the 20th consecutive year the District has received this prestigious award. The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles. Organizations that receive the certificate are recognized for their spirit of transparency and full disclosure to communicate the financial condition of the organization to owners, bondholders, partners, and participants.
