Located inside Riverfront Museum Park, the Rockford Art Museum (RAM) celebrates its centennial in 2013. Three galleries offer more than 17,000-square-feet of space for feature exhibitions and collection exhibits that change seasonally.
The 1700-piece permanent collection focuses on modern and contemporary art, photography, studio glass, outsider art, and regional art. Education programs include lectures for adults, classes for children, and gallery walks for all ages. The RAM Art Annex hosts classes and workshops, a reference library, and work on view by the museum's artist-in-residence. A Partner in Excellence of the Illinois Arts Council, RAM is supported by memberships, donations, sponsorships, and grants. Proceeds from special events and the Rockford Art Museum Store provide additional financial support.
RAM is home of the Rockford Midwestern Biennial (est. 1913), the annual Young Artist Show (est. 1941), and two-day fall favorite Greenwich Village Art Fair (est. 1948).
