Jr. IceHogs Skills and Drills Clinic

Tim Matilla, Director of Coaching Development for the Rockford Park District and hall of fame coach of the 16-time state champion Rockford Icemen, will hold this session of intense skill development. Space is limited, so sign up early!

Power Skating for the Hockey Player

This 50-minute class is designed for any hockey player at the level of Mite and beyond. The focus of this class will be on improving skating fundamentals to apply to game situations. Class will be divided into sections based on level and ability. Full hockey gear is required.

Youth Figure Skating Camps

Fundamental Synchronized Skating Summer Camp

This camp introduces skaters to synchronized skating, and teaches the fundamental skating skills and teamwork which become the building blocks for future success in the growing sport of synchronized skating. Skate that your friends, try something new, and have fun! All skill levels welcome. Camp ends with a performance Friday morning. Camp t-shirt included; lunch is not provided.

Synchro Elite Skating Camp

This camp is for competitive synchro skaters or competitive solo skaters interested in synchro. This camp works on the fundamentals of synchronized skating, program choreography, intricate footwork, and the individual skills necessary to develop a successful team. This camp will also work on these skills off the ice in addition to teamwork that become the building blocks for future success in the growing sport of synchronized skating. Skate competitively with your friends, try something new, work hard, and have fun! Skaters age eight and over are welcome (Pre-Preliminary Moves and/or Loop Jump strongly recommended). Camp t-shirt included; lunch is not provided.

Figure Skating Training Camp (Full Day) or (Half-Day)

Want to take your skating to the next level? This training camp is designed by our experienced coaches to focus on key on-ice and off-ice elements such as power, figures, edges, and moves in the field. There will be a fusion of ballet, core, stretching, and Pilates to equip skaters with the off-ice tools needed to be successful. You don’t want to miss this exciting new program!

Youth Hockey Camps

Spring Break Hockey Camp

This five-day camp will cover the A-Z of hockey. We will be working on skating, puck control, shooting, and passing. We will be on ice from 9:00-10:30 a.m., then at the Junior IceHogs Training Facility from 10:45 to 12:00 p.m. Friday is game day, and camp will run from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Drop off at 8:30 a.m. all week.

Jr. IceHogs Fundamentals Camp

Improve your skating, shooting, stick-handling, passing, and knowledge of the game with our Junior IceHogs staff. This week-long camp offers three hours of on-ice instruction per day, plus two hours of off-ice training and coaches' chalk talks. Lunch is provided Monday-Thursday.

  • Jersey included
  • Campers are required to have full hockey gear
  • Friday is game day, and pick-up will be at 12 pm or immediately following game
  • Drop-off at 8:30 a.m. all week long

Elite Hockey Camp

This camp is for players with at least one year of travel hockey experience. The camp will consist of three hours of on-ice instruction plus two hours of off-ice training. This camp will cover forward and backward skating, shooting, passing, stick handling, and game situation drills.

  • Full equpment required

  • Friday is game day; pick-up at 12 pm or immediately following the game

Select Summer Camp

This camp is for high-level competitive players who want to reach a higher level of skill development with no shortcuts. Players should have a positive and cooperative attitude in our process of training hard, having fun, and getting results. Each day will be intense, and will push players to develop individual knowledge and skills to make fast and accurate choices on the ice. The camp will be instructed by proven and experienced instructors who are motivated and committed. Camp will consist of five hours of ice time each day, which builds on the basics players have already conquered, and introduces new fundamentals, like top-level offensive and defensive strategies, and the utilization of gap control. During the two hours of daily off-ice training, players will focus on building power, speed, quick reaction, agility, balance, and endurance. There will also be shooting stations and new creative stick handling practice. This camp will be challenging, organized, and most of all, effective. Need to have minimum of one year of travel hockey experience. Friday is game day; camp will run 8 a.m. to noon. All week drop-off is at 7:30 a.m.

Tryout Prep Camp

This camp is for all youth hockey players ages 6-18 interested in trying out for a travel hockey team. Camp will consist of 45 minutes of off-ice workouts and one hour of on-ice practice. Camp will run for three weeks each Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Time sessions will vary depending on age groups. Times will be determined closer to beginning date.
