The Therapeutic Recreation team’s social program provides adults (Be Social) and teens (Teens on the Town) with events to hang out with their friends. Some of the events are housed within the Rockford Park District facilities. These events include seasonal dances, karaoke nights, game nights (video and board games), movie nights, craft opportunities, and cooking programs, to name a few. When we “hit the town,” we’ll check out community sporting events (IceHogs, Rock Valley College basketball), the local museums, movies, bowling, go out to eat, visit favorite parks for picnic fun, and of course, hang out at some of our favorite RPD spots (Forest City Queen, Magic Waters, the pools, Lockwood Park, etc.). We’re also open to suggestions. If you’re looking to get out on the town to be social, give us a call!

Outdoor Games & Summer Picnic
What better way to spend a summer afternoon than at the park with all your friends! We will enjoy a summer picnic, and then play outdoor games such as bags, boccia, croquet, ladderball, kickball, and board games, too. We may even take a walk on the paved path around the park. We love summer!
NASR Bowling Tournament
Strike it big at NASR’s 7th annual bowling tournament. Bowlers will compete in two games, and be placed on lanes based on bowling average and age. If you are not a regular bowler, please indicate level of ability when registering. Also, please notify your agency if you are a bowler who uses a ramp. Lunch, awards, prizes, bowling, shoes, and tons of fun are included in the registration fee.
