Rockford Park District Named One of the “Healthiest Companies in America”

ROCKFORD, IL - Rockford Park District received national recognition as one of the “Healthiest Companies in America” by Interactive Health, a national leader known for its preventive health programs that encourage employees to adopt new health habits.

Rockford Park District was one of 151 companies from more than 1,500 Interactive Health clients across the country recognized for helping employees make significant and sometimes life-saving changes to improve their health and well-being. This is the fifth straight year the Park District has won the award.

In 2018, the Rockford Park District experienced a participation rate of 76% by eligible employees and spouses. Seventy-five percent of District employees met their Personal Health Goal (as set by Interactive Health). The overall aggregate score for all of the individual participants was better than many of Interactive Health’s healthiest clients.

“We are thrilled to receive this national recognition, which is a reflection of our employees’ commitment to their own health and wellness. We continue to provide a variety of ways to educate and encourage our team members to make healthy lifestyle choices concerning nutrition and physical activity, a priority that is also supported by the Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners. Healthy, more productive team members will in turn provide better, higher quality services to our citizens, and at the same time, lower healthcare costs for taxpayers,” said Rockford Park District Superintendent of Human Resources, Rhashonda Williams.

Rockford Park District facilities and parks provide the opportunity to improve physical and mental well-being through exercise or recreation, which leads to an enhanced quality of life.
