Visit Atwood Center Saturdays for Free Activities
Rockford Park District's Atwood Center is open every Saturday year-round from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., and welcomes the public to visit for free self-guided hikes at 334-acre Seth B. Atwood Park, 2685 New Milford School Rd., Rockford, IL.
Visitors can also view feeding time for the resident birds of prey at 1:00 p.m., as well as interact with volunteers of the facility’s award-winning Birds of Prey live exhibit, which offers up-close views of raptors, and one of the few accessible tree houses in Illinois.
Atwood Center staff will also be on hand with a wealth of knowledge to share about the park’s animal inhabitants, its woodland, prairie, river, and marsh habitats, as well as its variety of ecosystems, ranging from marsh area to new forest growth, to climax forests of oak, hickory, and walnut.
This program is one of many fun and free family-friendly activities offered by the Rockford Park District for the community to enjoy.
