Learn to Skate or Play Hockey
Learn to ice skate, play hockey, or improve your skating skills with the Rockford Park District!
The Learn to Skate and Jr. IceHogs/Learn to Play Hockey programs offer individuals of at least 18 months of age of all abilities the opportunity to learn new skills and enjoy ice sports recreation for a lifetime.
We offer a variety of programming to fit the needs of all. We are committed to offering skaters a positive and rewarding experience. Unique programs at Rockford Park District ice facilities include Baby Blades for ages 2-3, and Junior Figure Skaters Training for ages 6-16. Unique hockey programs include Power Skating for the Hockey Player for ages 7+, Youth Learn to Play Hockey for ages 5-15, and a variety of specialized camps and clinics.
Group sessions are offered for beginner, recreational, and advanced skill levels, and meet at Carlson Ice Arena in Loves Park once a week for 30-50 minutes. Skates and helmets are provided. The next session begins the week of September 2, 2019.
Registration for skating and hockey programs will continue until capacity is reached. Fee assistance for group lessons may be available to residents meeting program qualifications. Registrations are taken online and at Customer Service locations: UW Health Sports Factory in Rockford, or Carlson Ice Arena or Mercyhealth Sportscore Two in Loves Park.
