First Major Track Meets Showcase Upgrades at Clarence Hicks Sports Complex
Youth athletes from throughout the region converge on the recently expanded Clarence Hicks Sports Complex, a Rockford Park District facility, to compete for a chance to advance in Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) competition.
The 2026 AAU-Central District Qualifier, licensed by the Amateur Athletic Union and hosted by Rockford F.I.R.E., was held June 12-13, 2026. Participating athletes are boys and girls aged 8 to 18 competed in running events, including sprints, distance races, and relays.
“GoRockford is honored to support the two AAU Track & Field events this summer, investing in our youth and celebrating the spirit of competition that brings our community together,” said Kara Davis, senior sales manager for Go Rockford.
Clarence Hicks Sports Complex is also the host site for the 2026 AAU Region 13 National Qualifier meet June 24-28, 2026. This event is one of the premier youth track and field competitions hosted by Rockford F.I.R.E. and AdkinsTrak Track Club. Athletes aged 8-18 will compete in sprints, distance, relays, and field events. The Rockford Park District is thrilled that 92 Rockford F.I.R.E. athletes will be competing at their home track.
