Basketball Courts at Andrews Park are Renovated Thanks to Fred VanVleet Foundation

ROCKFORD, IL – Residents living around Andrews Park, 850 N. Central Avenue, Rockford were among the first to play on a new all-weather FlexCourt over the weekend thanks to the VanVleet Family Foundation.

Made from highest-grade polypropylene, which is all 100% recyclable, FlexCourt outdoor courts are equipped with a high-flex, suspension system.

β€œAs a local business, FlexCourt is incredibly proud to donate a new basketball court to Andrews Park in honor of Fred VanVleet and in partnership with the VanVleet Family Foundation. Being rooted in the Rockford area makes this project especially meaningful for us. We’re also excited to support the Rockford Park District and its mission to serve the community. It’s an honor to be part of something that brings people together, celebrates local pride, and creates lasting opportunities for youth and families in our hometown,” said Chelsea Brearley, FlexCourt Marketing Director.

A special sign was also unveiled on Saturday, June , providing information about Fred VanVleet’s career and offering inspiration for the next generation of athletes.

β€œIt’s our honor to partner with FlexCourt and the Rockford Park District to revitalize the courts at Andrews Park. The VanVleet Family Foundation is committed to giving back to the youth in our community and assisting in the beautification of these courts means many more generations of kids will have access to nice courts for more summertime fun,” said Sue Danforth, CEO of The VanVleet Family Foundation.

Investing in neighborhood parks remains a top priority for the Rockford Park District. The Rockford Park District also resurfaced and striped another basketball court at Andrews Park and installed four new rims and backboards.

"A well-maintained, modern court draws people together, improves physical and mental wellness, social interaction, and community pride. This is a big deal to have two brand-new, modern basketball courts and it wouldn’t be possible without the VanVleet Family Foundation. It’s more than just a place to playβ€”it's a hub for connection, community, and the next generation of talent,” said Lamont Jones, Rockford Park District General Manager of Clarence Hicks Sports Complex, Youth Sports Programs, and Community Outreach.
