June 2025 Update

Now that the weather looks to be getting warmer and warmer, we wanted to provide a status update regarding Alpine Meadows playground. As you have likely noticed, some site work has been done. We are doing this install ourselves as we have certified playground installers within the Rockford Park District, but did contract out some concrete work. The concrete work took longer than expected and needed to be done before our team could move forward. At this point, the plan is for the playground to be done by the end of June, weather permitting. Thanks so much for your patience and for giving a little grace as we navigated through the unexpected, and are also in the midst of our busiest time of the year.

One thing that is also very exciting is that thanks to a generous donation, there will be one additional playground piece being added.  A spring rider double. See picture below.

March 2025 Update

Making Room for Something New Thanks to Your Feedback! 

The votes are in ... this is the playground you picked! Thanks to everyone who voted.  This is also the color scheme of the new playground which will be very bright and colorful. The rendering shows different views of the main playground piece that you selected. There will also be new swings installed that will be great for kids of all ages.

We appreciate everyone who voted online or came out to the park to cast their vote. We had three different playground designs to choose from and all provided new ways to play.  Alpine Meadows Park playground was built in the 1990s and was past its 15-20 year lifecycle. The former playground was removed in November 2024, and site work is underway. The playground equipment you selected has been ordered but we don’t have an install date at this point to share with you. Alpine Meadows Park playground will be the Park District’s first playground installation of the spring season, weather permitting. We will be investing roughly $82,500 to renovate this playground thanks to your feedback.

This is your park, and this new playground will ensure that your kids have a great place to play!
