Gerald Bell

Gerald Bell, retired Maintenance Supervisor at Riverview Ice House had a tremendous impact on generations of ice house guests, staff, and community members.

For 23 years, he was one of the first faces families saw at Riverview Ice House and also at times at Carlson Ice Arena. His extensive knowledge about ice maintenance and refrigeration systems provided generation after generation with a chance to enjoy life and learn a lifelong skill.

Gerald helped advance the mission of the Rockford Park District through the relationships he built with all people that passed through the doors of these ice facilities. He made it a better place to live, work and play, and made a lasting impact on the people of Rockford. Gerald’s motto is always, “treat people like you want to be treated.”
