Georgalee George

Georgalee George is a seasoned golf professional that has worked tirelessly to share her passion for golf with countless youth from all walks of life in our community through Rockford Park District programs.

For thirty-five years, Georgalee was an educator at Auburn High School in Rockford where she was also instrumental in establishing a golf curriculum for the physical education department. She was also the head coach of the Auburn High School Senior Varsity Boys' Golf Team from 1977-1981 and was the first woman to hold such a position in a Rockford High School.

Impact on Golf:

Georgalee has been a game-changer for four decades plus introducing children of all backgrounds to the game of golf. She was an inspiration to the golf team and had a significant role to play in the success of golf within the Rockford Park District.

She has been involved with the game of golf for most of her life and recognizes the importance of golf as a lifetime sport. Her enthusiasm for teaching is reflected in the attention she gives to each of her students. Within the Rockford Park District she was the coordinator and an instructor for the First Swing Program. Each spring she also would teach an adult golf class called, β€œTeachers and Friends.” She was also heavily involved in the Tiger Woods Foundation and was a participating instructor in that program that last came to Rockford in 2001. She also taught the Junior Girls' Golf Program for several years. Her diligence, self-motivation as well as dedication to always go the extra mile to achieve the best possible results were always admirable.

In addition to all of that, Georgalee coordinates volunteers for the Drive, Pitch, and Putt Tournament for the Rockford Park District. Those students who qualify locally go on to participate in a national tournament.

Georgalee has been a trailblazer in golf for over 50 years. She is always encouraging, humble and kind. She is one of the most positive people I know, and her smile will light up a room.
