It’s time to get out and play with friends at your neighborhood park! Break a sweat playing fun games such as spiderball, four-square, kickball, table hockey, wet and wild water play, and more.
NOTE: Separate registration(s) must be completed for each location you attend.

Jr. Leader Training Camp
Ages: 13-15
Dates: June 24-27, 2024
Want to be a recreation leader at the Time 2 Play Summer Playground Program, Washington Park Community Center, Lewis Lemon Community Center, or Nature Quest camps? Experience first–hand what it’s like to work as a leader with the Rockford Park District. Teens will learn how to lead sports games, recreational games, basic group planning, and communication skills. Following this four-day camp, teens will be placed as volunteers at a summer program or camp site. Placement is based on number of years attending camp, performance during camp, and location needs.
Jr. Leader Training Camp Notes
Jr. Leaders can request to work at a specific site, but it depends on how well they do during the camp (leadership skills, following directions, and ability to work with kids), years of service volunteering, and availability over the entire summer.
Bloom, Wantz, and Highland parks are the three most requested sites, and there are no guarantees that you will be at the camp you requested.
Upon completion of summer programs, Jr. Leaders will receive a performance evaluation completed by the site directors regarding their ability to help with kids, punctuality, attendance, and leadership skills.
